In many ways I am a late bloomer when it comes to blogging. It is a very logical thing for me, and I have not realized it until recently. I used to say that I would eventually write a memoir entitled “An Eclectic Series of Adventures”. I sometimes feel that defining my personality through interests, hobbies, political views, religion, education, profession, etc. is not possible. It’s a feeling we all have when someone makes assumptions about our worldview that does not capture who we are. It can be confusing, or frustrating; especially when it is someone close to us.

The roles I play in life are father, husband, son, hunter, automotive and motorcycle enthusiast, student, teacher, and like so many of us so many more. I am also an obsessive human being. When I am trying to decide how to spend my hard earned money on new optics or choose a hunt I will take weeks to pour over reviews and prices; creating objective and sometimes subjective pro/con lists in the process. I will talk the list out with anyone in my life that will listen and seek their advice, then sometimes not take it!

The result of my obsessiveness is a lot of information and conversation about the decisions I ultimately make. My decisions and opinions are just that: mine. I know not everyone will agree with my opinions and decisions, and that is just fine! I offer them as opinions and conversations. Even when I speak in absolutes, I know there are as many opinions as there are people in this world. I respect the 1st amendment (among others 🙂 ), and believe there is room in any debate for varying ideas.

Anyway, in this space I will chronicle my life adventures related to the outdoors, hunting, shooting, and the equipment we use. There may even be a fishing story or two eventually as I am just beginning to appreciate sport fishing as an enjoyable pastime. I hope that I provide some information about my experiences, or at least a little ‘around the campfire’ conversation / entertainment.
